NDM is an IDM-style download manager for Linux. It catches downloads straight from your browser, pulls files over parallel connections, and saves video from 1,700+ sites — while its video engine installs itself, silently, in the background.

NDM — watch it work
Parallel connectionsone file, many streams
Resume capabilitypicks up where it stopped
From a click on the video to a finished file — the real NDM flow, animated.
What's new
NDM 1.5.1 — small privacy fix on top of 1.5.0 (menus, silent background setup, in-app updates). The install counter is now owner-private: nothing in the app shows it.
This page reads the live release feed — it updates itself when a new version ships.
A download manager that stays out of your way
Catches every browser download
Click a download in Chrome, Brave, Edge or Firefox and NDM's dialog opens instead — documents, apps, archives, even extension-less links. Login-gated files work too: NDM borrows your browser's own session for that one link, exactly like IDM.

Multi-connection speed
Files split into parallel streams and are written in place — no slow merge at the end. A global limiter keeps your browsing smooth.
Resume that holds
Power cut, crash or restart — NDM restores your list and resumes byte-exactly, login sessions included. Expired link? Refresh it and continue.
Updates itself
New version? NDM pops up and installs it in one click, hash-verified. You always run the latest without hunting for installers.
Site Grabber
Point NDM at a page and harvest every file on it — images, documents, archives — filtered by type, saved in one go.
Scheduler & queues
Start at a set time, cap simultaneous downloads, auto-resume on launch, and import whole link lists in a batch.
Silent setup, light & dark
The 3.7 MB installer is all you fetch — the video engine downloads itself in the background, SHA-256 verified. Light glass theme by default, one-click dark mode.
One file. Every connection your line can give.
NDM opens parallel streams and writes each block straight into place. No temporary files, no merging queue — when the bar fills, the file is already whole.

Running in a minute
1
Install the .deb
One apt install command. NDM appears in your app menu immediately, dependencies handled by the package.
2
It sets itself up
On first launch the video engine downloads quietly in the background — hash-verified, no clicks, no wizards.
3
Add the extension
Load it once in your browser. From then on, every download and every video flows through NDM on its own.
Good to know
Requirements
Ubuntu, Zorin OS, Linux Mint or any Debian-based distro (x86-64; ARM64 supported for the video engine)
WebKitGTK 4.1 and GTK 3 — installed automatically as dependencies
ffmpeg — also handled automatically by the package
Internet on first launch for the one-time video-engine setup (~83 MB, in the background)
Windows?
A portable Windows build is in progress and will appear on the releases page when it is ready.
Is NDM really free?
Yes — free and open source, no ads, no accounts, no tracking. The app sends exactly one anonymous install ping so the developer can count installations; nothing else ever leaves your machine.
How does the browser catch work?
The extension notices downloads and video pages in your browser and hands them to the app through a small native bridge — the same approach IDM uses. Cookies are captured only for the link you clicked, stored locally on your machine, and deleted together with the entry.
Can it resume a failed download?
Yes — where the server supports range requests (most do), NDM resumes from the exact byte, even after a restart, and even for login-gated files whose session it saved.
Why is the installer only 3.7 MB?
The app itself is small and native (Rust + Tauri). The video engine — yt-dlp and deno — is fetched once, in the background, and verified against pinned SHA-256 hashes before it can run.
How do updates work?
NDM checks the release feed on launch. A normal update is one click. If a release is marked mandatory, older versions pause new downloads until updated, so important fixes reach everyone.
Ready when you are.
One small download. Every download after that, handled.
